Bulk purchasing savings calculator
Compare two purchase options using the same total number of usable units. See estimated order totals and savings before choosing a pack size or quantity-based price tier.
Enter your own verified prices. This calculator uses example quantities only until you replace them and does not connect to live BulkSupply.com pricing.
Why you should compare equal usable quantities
A box of 12 markers and a case containing 12 boxes are not interchangeable purchasing units. Divide the package price by the number of usable units to compare unit costs fairly. Round up the number of packages needed; purchasing a fraction of a sealed pack is normally not possible.
When a lower unit price may not be the best choice
- Storage: can the school safely store the remaining stock, and can it be tracked?
- Consumption: are extra units likely to be used before becoming obsolete or unsuitable?
- Compatibility: do items fit existing dispensers, printers or equipment?
- Timing: do the items need to reach several buildings, or do departments have different dates?
- Total cost: consider any applicable freight, special handling, taxes or delivery differences when comparing final quotes.
How BulkSupply.com handles quantity-tier pricing
Many products display available quantity-price tiers on the product page, and qualifying discounts are applied automatically in the shopping cart. This tool is for independent comparisons; it does not replace the current product page or shopping cart. Learn more in the bulk pricing guide or create a no-obligation PDF quote from selected products.
Worked example
If a school needs 240 markers, a 12-count package costs $15, and a 24-count package costs $27, the smaller option requires 20 packages ($300) and the larger requires 10 packages ($270). The illustrated difference is $30. These are made-up prices to demonstrate the arithmetic, not actual product offers.
